Poisson’s Ratio Hertz-Mindlin

In Hertz-Mindlin contact model, does GranOO backcalculate Poisson’s ratio? If yes, how?

For clarification, I am talking about the model we provide the E_star and G_star.

Hello,

The answer is no — there is no need to perform that calculation, as the contact model directly uses the effective Young’s modulus (E*) and effective shear modulus (G*).

We follow a similar approach as described here:
https://www.cfdem.com/media/DEM/docu/gran_model_hertz.html

The main difference lies in how tangential displacements are computed. GranOO uses a custom method for this, which differs from other DEM codes.
