Request for Guidance on Simulating Interactions Between Rigid 3D CAD Models and Particles in GranOO

Dear GranOO Development Team,

My name is Han, and I am currently a Ph.D. student at KAIST (Korea).

I recently started exploring the GranOO open-source project as I am conducting research that involves DEM simulation. I decided to learn GranOO after watching the following YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AHqk6adthk, which demonstrates that GranOO supports simulations involving interactions between 3D parts and particles.

However, I could not find examples in the provided resources that resemble the simulation shown in the video. Would it be possible to receive the example demonstrated in the video or guidance on how to replicate it?

I noticed that examples like the BRAZILIAN-TEST simulate interactions between a rigid tool and particles. However, I would like to create a simulation where the tool is a custom-designed 3D CAD file, such as an STL file format. Could you provide guidance or examples on how to incorporate custom CAD files as tools?

Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Han

Hello, sorry for the late reply.

GranOO support only *.off file. It is quite easy, you can use your CAD tool to generate an *.stl file and use meshlab software to convert it too off.

You can take a look into the examples 101 and 105.

Cheers, Damien
